How much for my fastback?

$2001.01 and I'll ship the Edelbrock to David.....

But seriously, I agree, buy a beater and keep the stang. For some reason, I have several beaters, free '90 Shadow, $50 '94 Chrysler LHS, $300 '90 Isuzu Amigo. I guess I'm just a beater magnet.

Didn't you just dump $7k in that car to make it better??? WTF? I mean, I understand being fed up... like working on a project for 3 years and it still not being done, and still not driveable. That I understand. Being fed up with having an attractive driving car with $7k in new ****e? That I don't understand. Sure, I know you've been have some mechanical problems and all, and that can be frustrating, but you've just got to get 'em handled and you'll enjoy the car more.

Then again, maybe it's just you're at that age where a cool old car really equates to just a plain old car. It happens to us all at some point. I got frustrated with mine when it started to have several bigger problems simultaneously. It became less reliable, or more specifically, more of a pain in the ass to drive. I was also dating a bit more than in my earlier days, and many of the girls were less fond of a rattle can rust bucket (to put it kindly). Ultimately, I just sidelined the Mach and started driving a "beater" '92 Saturn. Sad thing is that the Mach then just sat for the next 7 years. :notnice: Selling it would've been the kinder thing to do, but I'm still glad I didn't.

Anyway, assuming your car runs and performs well, and is actually in as good condition as your recent pics indicate, I suspect you could probably get mid to high teens for it. If it's pretty darn nice and still shiny underneath, or if you find the right buyer at the right moment, then maybe $20k.

Hope this helps...

i thought about selling mine, but i figured that id rather take it off the road and buy a cheap ranger that i drive every day. i dont work on the ranger and its reliable. its also SAFER.

if you worked so hard on it, then you will regret selling it and then it will be too late. plus, you might not get a good return from your investment

i still have mine but am not driving it until i have the money. in the mean time i work on it and dont feel rushed to be done before work the next day.

my dad always has a story to teach me about regret:

when he got out the military (around 1967 i think) he had some money for a car. he wanted a sports car and the three that he narrowed his decision to were the following:
1. used 1965 Shelby 350
2. Porsche 356C - prob worth $100k now
3. Triumph TR6

he chose the Trumph :(

I regret selling the 67 fastbacked 427 Stang. but I don't regret the effort I put into that car. If I'd have kept it, I could have easily quadrupled the $3000 I sold it for in 89. Now with the 331 stroker 89 Ranger (thats as fast as the Stang was) and my 68 Merc, and the desire for a new 05 GT Stang, I'm having thoughts.........................................

so your saying you want to be one of those people who says " yeh, i used to have a mustang...blah, blah, so nice, ...blah, so fast, blah." while the other person is looking at you calling you a jacka$$.
:rlaugh:
Could not have said it better myself! However, I can understand your frustration. After two years of trouble I finally parked my Mach and bought a new mustang. Fortunately for me, I had a garage that I could store the beast in and resisted all temptation to sell it. Fifteen years later, (I'm now 33) my financial situation better, I decided to start the restoration. Other than my wife and kids, absolutely nothing brings me more joy than that f@#$ car!

Don't do it dude! You have to take in the good with the bad. You have hit a few speedbumps fix it and incorporate it into your relationship with the car. It will increase its value all the more sentimentally. I am telling you now you WILL REGRET IT. You don't see a car the beautiful everyday. Plus you just took a loan and spent it on making it more fun to drive. Just save a little and get a beater. You will manage, look at me I haven't driven the stang in 6 months and Im going crazy(that is still nothing compared to what other guys on this forum have gone thourh) but will never sell. It makes the reward in the end all that much better. Remember this I have never met a former classic stang owner who hasn't regretted selling his car. Buck up and keep with it man you will be okay. :nice:

Man I was going to private message you so as not to spam this thread but I'd really like to see a thread on your car! Pics and a bit of a story. :nice:

Or just tell me where to get the pics of it.

25 years ago i was contemplating exactly what you are now. in the end i did sell my '71 mach 1. i had spent well over a year fixing and modifying the mustang and probably 8 months driving it after i was done. gas prices were killing me and i was tiring of the little repairs that come with a car like this, especially when i hammered the gas pedal every chance i got. i had an opportunity to get a 2nd car for a driver but i ended up selling the mustang. i am too embarassed to tell you what new car i bought instead. needless to
say the itch never left and about 2 years ago i bought a '73 mach 1 ('71's were a little out of my price range ), same color etc.... i have spent the better part of the last 2 years trying to get this mustang like i had the first one. only this time my cash outlay is a sh*****d more. do i wish i wouldn't have sold the first mustang? :bang: what do you think? i should have bought the driver.

hey Route666, trust me, this mach is definitely still a work in progress!
But like almost every other proud stang owner out there, I'd be happy to share what i've got. I'll try to get a couple of pics up tonight or tomorrow and I'll address the thread to you. Apologies to 65shlbycln for the derail. We now return you to your previously scheduled program

Mine for sale too, no time to tinker, no time to race, I can't stop spending money to get another.10th out of it or to make it do this better, do that better.......

I have too many hobbies that cost coin....... Need to streamline.....

I will regret it......
