Has anyone ever rebuilt their Vortech Supercharger? My friend is trying to sell me his s/c but it is bad. I just wondered how much it would be to fix it. Thanks

can't you buy rebuild kits yourself? that way you could have it done locally. i've never had it done, but it seems to be pretty common.

I think vortech is picky when it comes to selling individual parts. They do not encourage people to rebuild their own kits. I know how to fix the volute but not the impeller. The kit I am looking at has a bad impeller. If they would sell it I would replace it myself but I dont know how to get one.

My pal sent his Paxton in for a rebuild and an upgraded impeller. When it was there they found a hairline crack in the housing and fix that too. It costed him about $900 and came with a year warranty.

$900, I dont think I could do that. He wants 1000 for the kit and then another 900 on top of that. I dont have that kind of money right now. I was hoping maybe 500 max.

I believe vortech will *upgrade* a SC-trim to an S-trim for 600 or so... at least that was the deal about 2 years ago when I bought my sc-trim...

You need to talk to your friend and let him know he is not going to get 1000 for a bad S/C - unless there is a lot more that you haven't old us.

The upgrade deal is for working chargers not bad ones. Also there is NO way - NO way he is gonna get $1000 out of a bad charger. Hell you can get a base 5-6 lb charger for $1800 all day long.

Thats what I thought. I just sold a S trim and I only got 1200. Mine was good too. I was hoping to get this one if it was a deal but I doubt it will be worth my time. Thanks
