how much power am i losing without rear end shimmed?

hey wasup guys

about three months after i installed my 373 gears, i installed my aluminum driveshaft....after i installed the d/s, i started getting a whine and vibration from the rear end...well i found out that my rear end needed to be shimmed
(wasnt done with gear swap). my car runs real strong but i know for a fact that the rear end issue is holding it back some......i was just wondering if anybody had gone through this and noticed a difference after the rear end was working properly....i just wanna know how much power im gonna gain back thanks in advance guys

you arent losing anything. maybe a 1/10 of a hp at the wheels. its sounds like the backlash is set too loose. you wont notice a difference, except in annoyance level

no, i am losing power.....i noticed right away! i feel it in 3rd, 4th gear....excessive drivetrain vibration robs power...ohh yeah i forgot to mention that I AM getting vibration

Your power loss, if any is very minimal. I am with 17YO on this one.

put your stock one back on. You sure it was the swap that started the problem. Vibrations usually go away with the swap. U-joint ok?

Shortly after my gears were installed (incorrectly as it sounds yours were too) my pinion bearings went and it was horrible... it was about 1k miles after the install...

The only mod I havent done to my car myself has been the rearend. And guess what, the carrier bearings have gone out twice now. I think they have been set up too tightly. It was dead silent for the first 2,000 miles each time. After that it continues to get louder and louder. This may be your problem.
