i took it to get installed and they charged me $60 with a fluid change. some people have done it on their autos but i wasn't brave enough. i don't know about how much quicker it'll make your car but it will allow the shifts to be made a lot firmer and quicker. get transgo if you do get

When I first did the shift kit when the motor was all stock I dropped 1/2 second. This is no B/S, the stock tranny shifts so slow, it's amazing. I have a complete stock trannny with a transgo shift kit for sale for $500

1/2 second? I'm not saying I don't believe you, but what shift-kit do you have?

Will the shift kit affect the life of the transmission? I've thought about getting one, but i don't wanna kill the tranny.

I think it makes it last longer.

A shift kit done right will make the tranny clutches last longer and reduce heat. I will try to explane this. When the trans shifts the lag between shifts will cause the trans clutches to slip and create heat and wear the clutches. when you install a shift kit or to the jerry mod on www.tccoa.com you open the passages so the fluid can travel faster. I would recomend reading the tranny tech on www.tccoa.com it was written buy a ford engineer for the aode/4r70w. I would recomend his shift kit that you can do for $30-40 in parts from ford.

I have mine set up for stage 2 - still snappy and can chirp 1-2 under WOT.
If you drive in the rain I recommend this is as far as you go - stage 3 would probably put your car sideways on the wet roads.....
