A shift kit done right will make the tranny clutches last longer and reduce heat. I will try to explane this. When the trans shifts the lag between shifts will cause the trans clutches to slip and create heat and wear the clutches. when you install a shift kit or to the jerry mod on www.tccoa.com you open the passages so the fluid can travel faster. I would recomend reading the tranny tech on www.tccoa.com it was written buy a ford engineer for the aode/4r70w. I would recomend his shift kit that you can do for $30-40 in parts from ford.Mustangless said:I think it makes it last longer.
