im getting pretty serious about buying a forged 331 shortblock for my cobra, and i have a big discount so i dont want to just have a local machine shop assemble one. how much do ya'll think it would cost to have a professional shop install a built short block? just trying to get some ball park figures for my budgeting...

my mechanic did mine for 500

that was taking everything off the motor and putting everything back in. and even some other stuff with a clutch install and a few things

the only thing he missed was a ground! that Mofo haunted me for months until i figured it out.

I totally agree.. Except i had profession help on my side instead of books (my dad).. BUT... You have to have a place to do it and the tools to do it.. BUT then again for 500 bucks you could buy all the tools needed and still have a couple hundred left over... Then all you would need is a friend that knew what he was doing...

yup that was the boat I was in....

My car went down while I was at college I had to order the block and have it put in. no tools and no room at the appartment.

I know have a new appartment and have done everything to my car since then because I have room to work.
