That code is quite common. One of the most common causes is a dirty air meter. A good first step would be to spray it with a contact cleaner. Because it is running lean now, it may be costing you a bit of power.

My take on the G-tech

I borrowed one off of a friend a few years ago when i had my 01 and I was amazed at how accurate it was.

To get accurate results you have to remember a few things.

1. the road needs to be FLAT.. I mean flat like a dragstrip, not sort of flat

2. you need to have weather data from the dragstrip and from when you ran on gtech.. weather makes a HUGE difference.. All my times corrected for weather conditions are pretty much exactly what I ran at NED

3. you have to remember that the G-tech does not do a trap speed like the track.. It shows your MPH at the exact end of the 1/4 so it will always be higher

BTW OP I think your car is down on power now for some reason.. but we NEED weather data including altitude, baro, humidity to know for sure what you should run.

a 2.2 60 with no spin is not good. try to launch at a higher RPM.. slip the clutch a bit.. My best G-tech 60 foot on the 01 with 4.10's was a 1.9 on 245 kumho street tires. At the track on the kumho's a 2.0 was my best ( no track prep)

kk, yea its been throwing those codes for a while now but every time i clear it it comes back, there are actually 3 codes 1131 1151 and i cant remember the last one it has something to do with the o2 sensor not sending a signal. and might also be that the road im using isnt exactly flat it has some bumps. ill try cleaning out my maf meter to see if that helps. and it might be because of my noob launch too, i was only at bout 2k and just slipped the clutch until it was all the way out then floored it, but thats the same thing i did with 3.27 when i got a 13.9. i definately noticed a big difference with the DRs though, when i powershift my rpms drop instantly.

i just tried it again and got a 14.175 with a 2.177 60'. raised my launch rpm too 3k but there was a little tirespin, and also no powershifting and a smoother road. mayb its just my driving, hopefully with a little practice i can get 13s lol.

Just take it out to the track. What part of the state are you in?

Nittos will help out. They will allow you to run more consistant times. However, you need to heat them up with a nice burnout. At your power level, you should see low to mid 1.8's with them. Each .1 you gain in your 60ft will equate to around .15-.18 in your overall ET.

If these tires are going on an extra set of wheels, go with the BFG's, MT's, or the new NT05DR's.

yeah i agree.

To add to this if you are willing to go with a extra set of rear wheels ( I strongly suggest you do) I would go with a 15x8 on a 5.5 backspacing and get a really good set of 275 drag radials

A good 15 slick or drag radial will make a world of difference and you MUST powershift if you want good times. It takes some practice to do it but once you do get it down your times will improve.

I have to get some practice in before the track opens I am SO rusty since it's been a few years and when I get on my car I find myself lifting a bit on the 2-3 ( guess I need to get my confidence back)

I have seen so many threads about wrecking due to drag radials. Usually something like; "I was just driving along normally and I hit some sand/loose gravel/puddle and my car just spun out and hit the wall/median/ditch/tree/other car!"

And then the OP always says; "To everybody out there do not run DRs on the street its just NO WORTH it."

How long until you make that thread OP? Is it raining today? Is your car a DD? Are you an organ donor?

Good luck.

im near dallas, i want to take it to ennis one of these days. but its my DD and i am running the drag radial on my everyday wheels, i just decided to try them since my back tires wore out way before my fronts so i was just gonna try them before i replaced both at the same time

the drag radials have more tread on them than my old tires, but i havent tried them in the wet yet, i guess ill have to be cautious lol

and would having the tires set to such a low pressure like 16psi would that hurt top end?

Well Mike I was not speaking directly towards you I am sure a person such as yourself would never operate your car unsafely.

And I know people here are probably sick of hearing me whine about DRs but I can not help but speak up on what I consider a serious safety issue.

I agree with you that DR's can be very unsafe for a DD.. this is why I am going to watch the weather closely when I go to the track next season since I am 100 miles away and I have to drive up on them.

In fact I am thinking of keeping them at a friends house that is much closer and switching on the way up.

The nitto ones are not that bad but the more aggressive ones can get away from you in the rain in a second or less. I have had the rear end come around on me on some first generation BFG dr's in the rain.. scary. and those are a MILD DR compared to what they have now.

A lot of guys on this site are in their late teens or very early 20's and at that age they think nothing can happen to them.. It can happen, and when your spinning out from hitting a puddle on the highway and a 18 wheeler is about to hit you square on the drivers door your going to wish you were not on DR's in the rain.

why are DR's unsafe for daily driving? I guess maybe in snow,IDK. I used to DD on et street slicks and never had a problem, even in rain.

I would completely agree it is a bad idea to put drag radials on a daily driver. A toy which you take out on the nice days is completely different though. In your daily driver, you are stuck with that car, regaurdless of the weather. And yes, a drag radial is just that dangrous on standing water, especailly after some wear. While they may technically be street legal, there is very little grooving to wipe water away and after just a little while, the treat is no longer legal for the road.
However, I see absolutely nothing wrong with running a drag radial on your 'toy'. You generally won't go out on days with high chances for rain and thunderstorms and you won't be planning to go anywear with a grassy parking lot or other obvious obsticals. I've driven my nittos on wet roads and they still hooked up better than a standard all season on dry roads, but this is deciving because a puddle of water can easily cause hydroplanning.
Bottom line, just be smart about it. Don't put DRs on a car you NEED to drive, and be extra aware of the weather and road conditions.

you can hydroplane in the rain easily on DR's it happened to me once a long time ago, went to slow down hit a puddle rear end started coming around, I had to get it back in control quick because I had cars next to me..

I still don't know how I managed to go totally sideways and not hit anything in that situation.

Snow, LOL you would not be able to move at all in snow with DR's so I think the snow would be safer than the rain because you would not be moving at all.
