recently i found a 1990 Red notchback with a TurboCoupe motor in it. He said he didnt know how many miles were on the car, but the motor (and i saw it, it was very clean) didnt have very man miles on it. At first his dad tried to tell me that the rear end had a Detroit Locker rear end. but i talked to Josh (the kid that owns it) and he said that the rear end thats in it doesnt match up, but he does have the one that fits and its not detroit locker, just limited slip. it has a dented passenger front fender, which he is going to include, needs a paint job, new headlight/tailights and interior is kind of rough. 5-speed, w/ a b&m shifter.
I was just wondering how much i should pay for this car. I have an off-white semi-grey 89 hatchback with a 2.3 n/a auto, so i am going to sell it. So what do you guys think? worth it or not? he also said that there is something with the oil leaking in the car. he said that he wouldnt drive it really far distances but it would be alright with just down the street and stuff.

i would check and make sure the swap was done correctly. It should have all the TC electroncs (vam, EEC, injectors) and take it for a drive make sure it runs good. Personally i dont like notchbacks so i wouldnt give him more then 1000, but thats just me.

Sounds like it's in pretty rough shape, 1000 max...unless it's got alot of mods.

you dont want to be playing with mystery oil leaks. If you do buy it, as a project car, dont sell what your driving now. take the car home, and work all the bugs out of it first.

ps: as a general rule, when someone says "well it has a small oil leak somewhere.....i wouldn't drive it to far.....it needs a little work" that gerneraly means "ya im selling this car because its about to die. I dont trust it to get me around and i dont want to have to worry about it anymore."

I probobly wouldnt say any more then $750 at the most.

btw...it has 3 inch exhaust already on it...coupled with that turbo spool up...sounds freakin mean! i really cant wait to test it out. i want to run about 20-25 psi, safely. best way to do that? i was also wondering about a cheap electronic boost controller. i would like to have two settings that i could switch whenever i wanted to...without having to lift the hood and unscrew or screw sumpn...i know it sounds nasty...but seriously
