I was wondering how old a car has to be befor it is a classic, i have a 85, and i know the time is soon, once it's a classic it does not have to do emisions, i think, help?
Depends on the state - the rules are different in different places. Many states will allow a 'classic' registration at 25 years old - haven't heard of any that allow it any sooner than that. As for emissions rules -- state by state; even city by city. Check with your local authorities -- what someone else tells you about the rules where they live may not mean jack where you are.
Classic and antique are 2 different things - Classic is a term that means it is worth a considerable bit more than similar cars of the same vintage/class/etc... Antique just means old... In Virginia I believe it is 25yrs old to have antique tags and not have to have a county/city sticker, inspection sticker, etc... they limit your use to pleasure only within 250 miles of your house or to/from shows/events (unlimited mileage to these things), testing & maintenance use is ok etc... it cannot be used for regular transportation etc.... there is no mileage limit per year here in VA. - also plates are permanant to the car and you don't have to renew and pay new taxes every year and so forth --- very nice for my 1970 Mustang that sees Sunday afternoon duty.
