You know, it's very rare I ever needed to get anything fixed under warranty that would have cost a lot of money in all the cars I've had. I always buy new for the warranty, and it never gets used.

Once you go to the drag strip, you get the urge to mod. lol.

Check with your dealer on how mod friendly they are. Some don't care, others care a lot.

Keeping the warranty isn't a prime concern of mine. If I bust something at the strip, I'm not going to try and get it past the dealer to be fixed.

I tore up my R&P gears a few months ago. Ford wanted $1600 to fix it.....I ened up getting it done for $400 including new 4.10's. NEVER let Ford do your repair work. "Ripoff" is rule #1 around there

Until the car is out of warranty, I'll let the dealer fix it. This is my primary transportation, and I need to keep it going. Part of what you pay for when you shell out for a car is the warranty. I worked for a dealer as a mechanic years ago, and you are not too far off the mark when it comes to some dealers' "ripoffs". I took my Jeep to the same dealer for the rotor recall, asked them to throw some new pads in while it was apart, and they tried to bill me for a complete front brake job. I don't THINK so. My point is...when the warranty is up, I do my own work. Until then, I'll be happy to let Ford pay for my parts. Good suggestion about talking to them first. I may do that next week.
