How soon after tranny rebuild do I fill w/new fluid?

Just installed a rebuilt T-5z in my 87... Any recommendations as to how soon I should replace the fluid?

I did mine after 500 miles...but I am also super anal. The fluid came out looking brand new.

I also rebuilt the trans myself...so I did it more or less to give myself a reason to check the trans out.

500 miles after i rebuilt mine ! drained the fluid and inspected, mercon 5 is cheap enough !

I did mine after 1000. runs perfect still.
