The clutch quadrant is a "quarter circle" piece that attaches the clutch cable to the clutch pedal, aftermarket units are typically made of aluminum and remove the auto adjust feature of the stock setup which is a ratcheting device disigned to bring up the slack as the cable stretches over time.

When you remove this adjusting feature you have to get a firewall adjuster which you run the cable through and attach to your firewall. All a firewall adjuster is is a large screw mechanism that you turn by hand to pull up the slack on the cable just as the original ratcheting mechanism would have done. The end result is that the firewall adjuster gives you a little say in where the engagement point is, and in my case I think it removed about 2 inches of engagement travel... that is to say doesn't really reduce the height of the pedal, but the pedal doesn't offer any noticeable resistance for a couple inches of it's travel.
