How do you adjust the e-brake on a fox body mustang that is all stock? Thank you. My budies car must have popped out of gear or he forgot to put it in gear and he woke up this morning seeing that his car ran into a 4 wheeler last night and I have forgotten how to adjust it.

just pull the drums off and have a look and clean all the dust out...than adjust the adjuster wheel till there is just a little drag on the drum. rear brakes are simple so if you need new shoes and a kombi kit make sore you do one side at a time so you can look at the other side if you need to know how something goes in there

Under the car by the front yoke is the adjusting nut, just tighten it up. I don't know why they want you to pull the drums. If the handle is pulled all the way up just tighten the adjuster nut under the car.

try adjusting the rear brakes first I bet they are way out of adjustment.....it will give a better feel in the brake pedal and should shorten the pull on the e-brake handle

I will give that a shot Roland, it is my buddies car and he isn't going to drive it for a while, but needs and e-brake when it is parked.

That was only on the Early Fox Mustangs, if his is a newer Stang then there is no adjustment other than tightening up the rear brakes or replacing the Cables as they probably have stretched over time.

No Adjustment on the 1990 other than adjusting the rear brakes.

THat sux, any ideas why they switched over? It seems like it would be a lot easier if all you had to do was get under the car.

why do you need an e brake when its parked??? i NEVER use mine! it works and its not rusted but unless your parked on a MAJOR hill or something 1st gear should work just fine! if it rolls while in first gear you might need other work done!

I think that he forgot to put it in gear, that is my speculation. An e-brake is always a good back up incase you forget to put it in gear for some reason or another or if someone else drives your car and doesn't have a habit of putting it in gear.

Actually you did not need to get under the car as the adjustment was up by the Handle inside the car. I have an Adjustment under my 92 where the Cables come together at the Equalizer Bracket, but I have rear Disc Brakes and I modified the Handle and Short Cable.
