Ive never owned a SC before. So if I go to look at a used vortech YS trim centerfugal supercharcher, how can I tell if im buying a paperweight or not? Can anyone give some advice on what to look for? Theres a local ad for one including all tubes, gears and belts for $2600

Inspect the impellar for nicks, bends, etc. Scaring around the case where the impellar spins. Check for shaft play. Try and see if it has any leaks etc.

If I'm not mistaken, you can get a brand new SC Trim for that price. Everything
included.

price

if you google it, it comes up with prices over $4000. so i think that would be the typical new retail price.

What exactly are you going to use it on?
That Supercharger isn't all that useful on a 302 or even a stock block for that matter.

If you want to get in on an entry level SC setup, you can buy an SC trim for like 2 grand, then upgrade other parts on it as you go. An SC will do just as well as an S in most cases.
Pullied right they will also provide block splitting power.

Well, that's why i asked what he's using it for.
There are plenty of people out there that will buy things because they are a good price, not because it's what they need.
People also have a habit of thinking bigger is better.
