Ive had two pumps go bad on me, so I am gonna clean out the lines before I do anything. THe pump that is currently on is locked up, so I dont think I can do it with that one.

I always blow out the p.s. cooler and lines with compressed air, then run some clean p.s. fluid through them.

You can use auto trans fluid as well. There is nothing wrong with that.

Does it REQUIRE ATF? Or can it ALSO take ATF?

And where is the cooler? Which line goes to it, and where does the other come out?

IIRC we call for Type F so that's what I would use. It has a higher coefficient of friction than Mercon.

If someone knows of a different factory recommended fluid, let me know.

My Ford shop manual calls for PN# E6AZ-19582-AA specification ESW-M2C33-F (Type F)

I just used PS fluid last time. But only had to put like 1/2 a qt. Think I should just fill it up with type F this time?

And the last pump I got was full of red oil when I got it. Which I think is ATF.

Ok something else is has to be wrong. I just put the new pump on and I already had some PS fluid so I put some in since it was said you can use either. So I added some, the wont to start it up to see hoe much more I needed to add, and the damn thing is locked up again.

What the hell.
