Hello all! I just bought my first mustang(68 Coupe) and while i am very familiar with Ford smallblock engines, i am not so familiar with everything else.
So, my first question is, How do i convert my non positraction rear end to positraction. I plan on putting new Ford Racing 3.55 gears in to replace the old.

agreed. Just buy a rebuilt 'chunk' with gears of your choice and a trac-loc, should cost between 450-600 for a fresh setup, 300-450 for a good used unit. Just pull the axles, unbolt the chunk, pull it out, pop in the new chunk, bolt it up, pop the axles back in. Takes 2-3 hours the first time you do it.

I would like a limited slip differential also installed on my stang at some point. My local performance shop suggests TracLoc and has no opinion of Detroit Locker. Which do you guys think is best and why. It will be used for street and occasional dragstrip.

Trac loc is ook for relative normal driving, Mine wore out in a couple years, i bought a Detroit for one and a Auburn in the other, I am happy with both but the detroit is very noisy around turns when it unlocks and locks, but i have had no problems with them as far as traction, buy the gears you want and the limited slip unit and take it to a shop for install, shop arouond for best prices on labor though it can vary a great deal. The splines on the axle, look up the original specs, if it has been changed or messed with, you will have to pull it and count.
