how to find out if you have gears?

i bought a mustang that has gears in it, well i was told it does but the guy wasnt sure what kind. i would like to find out with out having to pull my diff cover off. i heard there is a formula for how many times your tire turns in relation to how many times you drive shift turns. i tried this method and for one turn of my tire my drive shaft turned about 3 and a quarter times to 1 tire rotation.

does anyone else know the answer to the formula or have a diff one?

my vehicle is a 98 mustang gt

well that would make your gear 327s thats not much of a gear, i have 373s, i belive stock is 273s

stock gears in a 99-04 gt are 3.27's. that's what is in my car right now. but I'm gettin' my 3.73's put in on the 3rd of May!

Yeah you still have the stock gears if it only rotated 3 and a 1/4 times.

Some 98's came with 3.27's from ford.
