Just purchased an Edelbrock exhaust system and got it on last night, and noticed that there is a flat spot on the end of the passenger side tailpipe. It isn't perfectly round. I didn't notice it until I had put it on, of course.

Any body have any suggestions on how to make it "round" again? It isn't a huge flat spot, but it is noticeable. I was thinking of putting a pry bar inside the exhaust pipe and gently pry up on that section? Think this will work?

Any help would be great. Thanks

Is it at the very end of the pipe or in the middle? If it's on the dead end of it you can take it to a muffler shop and they can put it on the machine that stretches pipe out to a bigger diameter and he can just barely tap it and it'll open it up round again. If you pry on it you're going to stretch it out somewhere else.

when you say "flat spot" do you mean that the angled cut at the end of the pipe doesn't look like it was cut far enough back and the angle changes or is it just bent?

It is bent at the very end of the tailpipe. It is angled cut correct, but it is just bent to make it not perfectly round.

Will a pipe stretcher just make it round again, or will it make it bigger? I don't want it bigger, just round again.

There's a chance the guy at the muffler shop might screw it up and stretch it out. You can buy a pipe stretcher yourself which is used with a ratchet so you can be sure that you don't open it up too far and stretch it out. If you have a Harbor Freight around your house they sell them for cheap.

Carquest sells them too. All the little mechanics thought it was funny to call and ask for a "pipe stretcher". They got pissed when I delivered them one. Now if they'll just start making parts for an 83 corvette and some radiators for early model Beetles...

go to an exhaust shop and ask the guy or girl at the counter who is the best with the bender... then ask that person to use the strecher and make it round...easy to do and if they have any experience at all they shouldn't expand it to much.....and I bet if you came with a tray of coffies they wouldn't even charge you
