How to identify engine

I have a 40 Ford with a 5.0 HO in it how can I tell what year the motor is? Some of the spark plug wires say 89 some say 90. Oil pan h 20200323_154521.webp has a sensor in it on the drivers side

The one picture you post has all the right parts to be a typical 87-93 5.0 HO from a Mustang or Lincoln Mark 7

Unfortunately to really narrow it down requires looking for some markings that are hard to see when the engine is in the car. There is a casting code and date code on the block down under the heaters near the bellhousing. It likely says E7TE and has a 4-digit date code that will tell when the block was cast. These blocks were assembled and dropped into a car relatively quickly after that. Also, on the rear of the engine behind the intake on the rear china wall is usually a partial VIN stamp that will further help ID it.
