Hey everyone

I'm new here, but not to car modding.

I've never raced a car down a track before, but i'm very eager to try it. I've taken my new car out on some country roads trying to find out the best way to launch it but was wondering what everyone else does?

Dumb question, but is it healthy to dump the clutch at around 2k or 3k? i've been trying to slip it, but it always bogs. For best results TCS on or off?

I am experienced enough to say TCS off, other wise it is going to cut power. And as far as launch, it shouldn't hurt with a 2-3k rpm launch at all. Just trust me on this...if it gets out from you and starts to sway left or right, let off the gas it should right itself. Practice driving it before you go to the track because it will feel different on the track. The 2-3k lauch won't hurt anything other than your rear tires because with stockers it wont hook well either way. Wheel hop and loss of traction is common until you get to know your car or put stuff there to keep it from happening. Hope this helps.

Bottom line...get to know the car first, then try it at the track. And if any wheel slippage occurs...the TCS will cut power so remember to CUT IT OFF BEFORE THE RUN!
Everyday when I get it mine, after starting and putting on my seatbelt, I always turn the TCS off and leave the control of the vehicle up to me (unless it is rainy out and even though my tune and SC has really disabled the TCS feature anyways.)

Good luck and enjoy the ride....

With my setup (CAI/tune/Shorties/H-pipe) I launch around 3k and slip the clutch until close to the 60ft and then I'm off the clutch. Power shift into 2nd wind out till 6200ish, slam into 3rd and cross the trap around 6200-6300 at about 105-108mph.

Edit: Forgot...TCS is off. I also have the stock tires and cut a 1.9 60 ft. They don't hook very well, but they got my 12.9 pass on them

my routine is similar to Hoboattacker.
With my setup in my sig, I run about 26 psi in my tires all the time including the track. I do only a SMALL burnout, just to clean the dirt off the tires... and stay away from the water box. I rev to about 3500 with the TCS off. I slip the clutch out just like if I am pulling out from a redlight on a steep hill. Like Hoboattacker, I am not completely out of my clutch till relatively close to 60ft.

This has resulted in several 1.8x 60' times on 3 different tracks (Mason-Dixon, Darlington, and Kanawha Valley), even before the 4.10's.

I liked that in the above linked thread. I've still not been to the track, but it makes sense, with treaded street-tires.
