How to protect quarter window moldings?

So I scored a near perfect (best I've seen in a long time anyways) set of quarter windows for my hatch. I'm very excited about this because my current quarters are some of the most degraded I've ever seen, and I just had an unsuccessful experience with the plastic covers (kept falling off ). So I'm wondering, and hoping, that there is something I can apply to my new moldings to help preserve and protect them from degrading? My car is currently garage kept, and only driven on sunny nice days, but nevertheless, I don't ever want to deal with this again. I was thinking maybe just some good quality glossy black paint, but I wanted to ask you guys before I do anything.
