I was wondering if there is anyway to reduce the drivetrain inefieciences. Would changing the driveshaft to a lighter one (aluminum) reduce some of the loss? Any help would be appreciated.

it should, it'll reduce rotating mass

Lighter wheels, aluminum or cf drive shaft, and lightened flywheel will net you the most.

It could. Reduce friction, reduce resistance, reduce power loss
