my antenna was broken off where the threads start. the threaded part is still in where it goes into the fender. i need some tips on how to remove it with basic tools. any tips thanks - Jim

If its possible just get in there with a dremel with a cut off wheel and make a slit in the remaining piece of the antenna. Then just get a small flat head screw driver and unscrew it.

i had this happen to mine, i ended up just going to the junk yard and getting a used base for 5 bucks, it only took 5 min to change the base. When i changed it i cut the wire on it and taped the new one too it, then simply pulled the old one out and the new one was there, pluged it in and thats it.

If you're thinking about replacing the base and cable because your antenna was broken off you may to take a look at this, it's from the Ford Shop Manual.

It's about installing the stock radio I know... but it also give you an idea about how to route your antenna cable.
