How to replace 65-66 trunk lock?

I have a new bezel for the trunk of my '65, but can't figure out how to get the lock cylinder out and put it in the new one. There is a button that I figure needs to be depressed, but it won't move. Any help here?

Turn the key in the bezel all the way to the right, just as if you were opening the trunk, and with it there push the button down and pull the cylinder out.

Actually, that's what I tried earlier. No help. Maybe I should use a punch to tap the button in. It has been in there 40 years, of course.
