Ok my exhaust has been rattling against something for a long time and I want to adjust the tailpipes. I have clamps holding the tailpipes in the mufflers and once the clamps are removed, the tailpipes will not budge. I have sprayed PB-blaster on them and let it sit but they will still not move. Does anyone know any tricks to get the tailpipes free?

Ok well I'm not trying to cut into them I just want to do a quick adjust. Is cutting them the only option? They are not welded on.

If you have air tools, you can use a spreader. Most muffler clamps kinda suck because they kink the tubing, so even when the clamp is removed, the pipes are stick together. A band clamp is a nice alternative next time.

Twisting the pipe, if you can, can help work it loose.

Common places to hit are the rear frame rail where the pipes go over the axle and the Driveshaft itself.

Good luck.

If you have axcess to torches, heat them up and twist 'em. Be careful though.

I used a Dremel with a cutting wheel, made three cuts longways (relative to the pipe) 120 degrees apart which released the clamps compression onto the inner pipe, twisted and realigned, reinstalled clamps. Worked perfect for me.

Funny - it's the exact reason I go to the muffler shop and let those guys cut/weld. Of course, 'bolt together' anything isn't exactly available for mine...
