How to tell if a MSD box Works?

Hey guys I got my hands on a MSD 6AL, and I'd like to put it on my car (run a MSD 6A now) this box was installed on my Coupe when I bought it but the car is bone stock...
I just wanna make sure it works.

Or maybe sell them both and get a Digital 6...hmmmmmmmm

Unless you buy the MSD tester...about the only way to test it is to put it on the car. Or you can buy the digital 6...your call.

I'm on my third digital 6. I wouldn't recommend one to anybody. Luckily I work at Advance, and I can just keep warranty exchanging them out.

If it has rev limiter pills then put in like 4000 rpm and nail it. If it starts popping like crazy then it works. Will the car even start if it doesn't work?

Check MSD's website they may have directions for you. With it installed on the car there is a way to check to see if it's putting out power by jumping one of the wires to ground and looking for spark there. Pretty easy if you know which wire.

I was in the same boat when i got mine. I just deciede to hook it up and see what hapens. I found out the hard way that it was working. I use to beable to pull one of the plug wires off of the dis and really never get shocked. well after my 6al i got the crap shocked out of me and my arm was numb.
