I guess you wouldnt truly know unless you were to tear down the block and visually inspect it . But if it has all the accompanying GT-40 parts ...heads/intake etc then you are pretty much at his mercy . If he could provide reciepts that may help .

It may be a GT-40 spec motor which would be a rebuilt stock bottom end (up until they stopped using forged internals which I believe was 93) with all the accompanying gt-40 parts . Hard to say if he bought it that way , or built it . But when it all boils down to it , its the same but you could build a GT-40 "spec" motor for much cheaper .

Well it has a GT-40 intake, but from the looks of thing those are iron heads. So i don't think it's a crate motor, but it could still be GT-40/Gt-40P heads. We need pics of the heads to be sure.

You have GT-40P heads.

Not a GT-40 crate motor, but the previous owner put some decent parts together. No way to tell if it has a cam though without taking it out

Ya.
While they are better than stock. They are only worth about $300, so don't let this guy tell you that the car is worth more because of them.
The real gt40 tubular intake is nice though.

You also have a 65mm TB.

Since the entire engine is blue, it's obviously been out of the car.

So, gt-40P heads, GT-40 intake, 65mm TB
