I want to remove the tank straps so I can clean them up or buy new chrome ones. Do you have to have a punch and smack the pin through the band, through the other side and then it will fall out?

Thanks,
Ben

nope...gently lift the strap up so the pin is centered in the hole and use a magnet to pull them out.

No way! That sounds too easy. I will go try now. Thanks. My luck they are both rusted solid in place.

We centered the pin in the hole and pushed it out with a screwdriver. Nice and easy. Kinda scary considering thats the only thing holding the gas tank on
