How well can a Fox Body handle?

Im considering building a pretty stout street suspension to really feel the car handle. Right now Im running Lakewood 70/30s and 50/50s with Eibach Drag Springs. I hardly ever drag race anymore so I see my suspension as a waste. My car is a pure street car and by no means a drag car. Im wanting to build a nice street suspension decked out with all maximum motorsports stuff. Coil over suspension + the works. I guess my question is, how much of a difference in handling would i be able to feel? Am I wasting my time with a solid rear axle car?

A full and balanced MM suspension will make your car handle like a go-kart on rails. They're one of the best in the industry for a reason. Call them up and speak to a representative and they'll get you set up with what you want to achieve your goal.

Just installing a set of lowering springs makes a very noticable difference in handling over stock. Doing what you're talking about on a car that's set up for a straight line will be like day and night.

Springs, shocks and struts will make a huge differnce compaired to what you are running now. Strut tower brace and some other goodies are a nice touch after that.

I went from stock suspension to MM's R&T kit with standard subs. Completely changed the car's demeanor, I still want to do a STB and a PHR. Although I want to keep my LX tips, so idk what I am going to do about the PHR.

Have most of MM parts and it is great. Was it needed for a street car prolly not, do I like it, YUP.

I should go ahead and get the swaybars to complete the set up.

Subframe connectors if you haven't done that already will make a big handling difference also.

Alright guys, thanks for all the info! Just wanted to make sure it wouldnt be a waste. Ive got subframes already. It's something Im seriously going to try and do, probably a nxt winter project!

Either Maximum Motorsports or Griggs, either of them can hook you up with the parts to make your car out corner exotic cars on a road course....it just depends on how serious you wanna get and how much you wanna spend. Do a web search for "Griggs Racing Old Blue"...it's one of my favorite Mustangs of all time. It doesn't run front or rear sway bars, and doesn't use the front strut towers...that's how rad their setup is.

Just good SFCs, struts/shocks, springs, and rear control arms makes a world of difference. Honestly, I don't see a need in going much farther than that really, unless you plan on getting serious about auto-X or something like that.

My car has those modifications, and IMO, it has very similar handling characteristics to any modern sports cars I've rode in like 350Zs, WRXs, etc.

Very nice NikWoaC!!! Thats one of the main reasons I wanna do it. I kill these import guys and they always says, yeah well my car can handle. I wanna say so can mine! Im not planning on doing any auto X ing at all, just want a great handling car.

Steve Saleen's formula for making a Fox handle was springs, shocks & struts, a K-member brace and a strut tower brace, along with larger wheels and tires. Later cars had subframe connectors as well. That worked well enough to win the showroom stock championship in SCCA.

After I got my Saleen, I realized how lacking my LX was in the handling department. I did all of the above, plus rear control arms. My 100,000-mile LX now drives like a new sports car.

I noticed a huge diff when I put new rear control arms, and poly bushings all the way around. I want to get a k member brace.

Ive done LCAs, springs, struts, subframes and CC plates on my vert and I'm reasonably satisfied with it. one of these days ill change my worn out shocks too!

My LX has pretty much every suspension mod except for coil-overs.

Handles awesome, although is a pretty rough ride over a pothole!

Comparing your current drag setup to a MM setup is like comparing an 18 wheeler to a ferrari.
That's how big of a difference it is.

I'm not an MM fanboy, but i do like their stuff.
I'd also consider griggs, although the cost goes up.

May want to look into a watts link, but i haven't seen one yet that gurantees you can run tailpipes.

I'm starting to look for a fox with an MM maximum grip box, a T56, and a built n/a motor - preferably a stroker. I would love to have a badass little track car that would give my brother's '03 Cobra fits.
