How Well Do You Trust Your E-Brake?

Not a Mustang or even a Ford, but my God does that suck!

I pull into the Fricker's parking lot and pull my car right up to where the front door is... I yank the E-brake up and leave it in neutral... I think I'll just leave the car on... so it can idle and carbon up that cat. Well, what if someone comes out and steals it? So i turn the car off... Damn. What if they get all pissy about me parking in front of the door... maybe I should pull it into a parking spot just incase. **** it... I'm just gonna be a second. I run inside, pay for my food, and go back outside...

WHERE THE **** IS MY CAR!!?!?!?!???!

NOTHING VISIBLE ANYWHERE... NO SIGNS. Heart starts beating.

Unless I'm on a steep hill, I never use my E-brake. I just put it in 1st gear and that's it. In 20+ years of driving sticks, I've never had a problem.

Ouch. I would have to say I trust mine pretty well...I've replaced the cables twice and done the tension a few too many times as well lol

A couple years ago I parked my Mustang (98 GT) and went inside. A few hours later one of my friends rings the doorbell (which nobody ever does) ... He says "What up, why the hell is your car parked in the woods?" I'm like WTF!!!!

I only trust mine on level ground its crap...

Have to say though, I enjoyed seeing that Cobalt get messed up

Dont trust mine that much either.

I stopped by Wendy's to get some food with my GF, she stayed in the car and I went in. I came back out and she said the car had been creeking the whole time I was gone. I had the e-brake set nice and firm, I took it out of 1st and the car started rolling backwards... haha. POS.

Let the flames begin!

I ALWAYS park mine in neutral with the emergency brake up. Reason: I have a remote start system on my car. I'd rather risk my car getting ef'd up over hurting, and possibly killing, someone else.

If you leave your car in neutral and the E-brake fails, your car could run over someone AND F your car up. That's the way I'm reading it. Unlees the remote start has some kind of brake feature of it's own.

I trust my E-brake very well, but I always park the car in either 1st or Reverse always. I park my car is a steep driveway, so i NEED to do this. I even keep wheel chocks handy for idling the car in neutral in the morning to warm it up

However, in the 3 years i've been parking in the steep driveway, not once has the e-brake slipped and the trans ends up holding the car. The first thing i do when i get in my car is push in the clutch and it's never moved meaning the e-brake held all night.

A few times i have left my car parked like this for 2-3 days and then get in to find i only left it with the e-brake up and in neutral. Luckily my e-brake works very well. It only take a few clicks to make it hold.

As you can see, my driveway has a serious slope to it. If it lets go, my car will roll down the driveway and down a hill pickup up serious speed before it crashes into a neighbors house...so it NEEDS to stay. I even keep 2 wheel chocks hidden behind those bushes in the rear to use if i ever need to let my car idle in neutral in my driveway to warm up or run the A/C or something. Rather be safe than sorry.

wow i park on a way steeper driveway than that and i haven't put mine in 1st for the last week i've been driving stick..it may be time to do that haha

if Im not mistaken, he said he was trying to "break in the cat" on his new exhaust system so he let it running. I dont know about you guys, but break in period for my new parts is the time it takes to install them.
