Ok. So I had a code 15 being thrown which is the KAM code for the computer saying the KAM is not working. This is either from not getting 12V or from a chip. I tore out the computer finally and guess what. I do have a hypertech chip. Its the standard Street runner chip Part #689021. It says its for a 5 speed which my car is but the sticker on the chip says its for an 89. My car is a 92. Is this a problem? I don't think so because they should be the same but I want to see what you all think. So now what do I do? Do I leave this chip in or should I take it out? I guess this answers the question as to why my car detonates if I dont put 93 ocatane gas in it. I don't know if I should leave it or not. The car is pretty stock as you can see in my sig and I don't really see where a chip is helping a stock car all that much if any. What do you all think?

i'd pull the chip out.. basically pointless when you can just bump timing by the distributor.. it should be able to work with 89-93 cars.. shouldnt be much difference

I'll have to agree with tossing the chip out too.

I would like to hear if the code 15 comes back with the chip pulled though.

Let us know how it runs too....

Good Luck,

I took the chip out and I can't seem to notice a difference. It almost seems to have better throttle response now with the chip out. I just pulled codes tonight before I came to work with the chip out and no code 15. YAY. I think I am gonna leave it out for a few days and see what I think. Hopefully I can put 87 fuel in it now. I always hated having to put 93 octane fuel in a stock 220 hp mustang. I will keep ya posted.
