Hypothetical motor question, let's dream!

Even though the speedo is screwed the car will run right correct?
Thanks

The car will run fine but your shiftpoints may be off for an automatic equipped car. Getting a good chip burned will fix the speedo problem.

While doing the gears its a good time to do the bearings and everything and the shop should have all that. I like 3:73's in a manual car but many guys swear by 4:11's .

how bout my dream- the VT engines 5.0 stroked mod motor. the one that was in 5.0 magazine a month or two back and made 375 HP w/ a few mods. that dreams actually comin close to a reality. theres a VT guy in this forum somewhere. i wonder if they assemble them as a crate motor, or how they would sell it. I don't know the exact price though.

I have an automatic not a manual. I want to keep the automatic. I don't know about that VT motor although I would be interested in checking it out. What kind of power would that 03 Cobra power put out and how easy for the installation? Also, are there a decent amount of mods that can be done to it as well or is it already near its peak potential?
Thanks
Rob

Do a headswap buy a blower and beef up your rear end and tranny. Although that will take all of 8 grand. You will smoke ls1's and still get good mileage.(if you dont rip on it) One of the best mustang shops is pauls automotive engineering in cincinatti and they are only a couple hours from you. btw, where are you in indiana I go to ball state.

I'm from New Castle. I go to Ivy Tech and start Ball State in the Fall. I work in Muncie also, just don't want to move there yet. From what I've been reading on the boards you have to go to Ohio for everything. It seems that nobody in Indy does Mustangs very well or aren't rip offs. I figured that at least one or two good garages would be in the Indy area.

Oh ya and the cops love to write tickets-I have a stack of old ones. So Paul's could do an engine swap or head swap and tranny mods pretty well? The rear end I'll get done here but whoever does the motor work will have to be able to tune so I can drive the car back. Do they go by the hour or by the job?

Pauls can do anything. Plus they have an in house dyno for perfect tuning. As far as price goes sometimes they charge by the hour and sometimes they charge for a certain job. I know about the cops in new castle I got a ticket for an unsafe start pulling out of wendys trying to catch up to an 01 cobra.

I will have to check them out. I kind of like the Cobra motor idea as well. My current motor has 63000+ on it so maybe a little fewer miles would be a good foundation. I'm assuming you can still get the heads improved on the Cobra motors along with intakes? I need to know how they will fit with my tranny and if any mods need to be done in the engine bay as far as mounts and so on. Also, will I need all new computer set up or just a new chip and tune? Where do you live that you go through my happy hell of a town?

I live in Madison it is about an hour south of greensburg. I know there are a few guys on here who have made the cobra or mach 1 swap with good results. I think they are using the stock computer as well. they will probably chime in shortly. I dont know if it would bolt directly to your transmision or not. BTW, do you ever come to muncie drags? If so we need to meet up sometime.

I only go on Nitrous night. I however did go last year to see the jet semi and bus. It took a couple of days to get my hearing back. I will be on here all night surfing to find set ups. A link that is on this thread helped me get a pretty good idea with changing a cobra motor in for my stock GT.

Tranny rebuild

my parents own a transmission and auto repair shop in North Judson, we have been getting into the racing scene but if you need a tranny give them a call and i promise you will get the best price that you can find and he can build it to any level of performance you want the number is 574 896 5107, we can install any thing at really low prices. Also about the short block, i suggest not buying the rotating assebly if you go through dss or some other they balance and assemble the whole motor, not only saving you time but money and the guarantee that it is put together correctly. anyways good luck and if you ever go to 41 or some big event is going on in muncie drop me a line , and i will be game to go aslong as i am not in school. i go to purdue.

Well I won't hold the Purdue thing against you and I will write down that number. I want to get through the summer with this car as a driver and when the weather gets cold it will be time to play. This is my first V8 so I will enjoy and probably abuse it a little while the weathers nice. The whole major mods thing started because of a particular camaro here in town who always thinks he's the ***** and right now I can't take him so I figure I will beat him and make a awesome car at the same time. I definitely am checking everywhere I can to find what works best and is a good boost in power but the only problem is that everything is 1 or 2 hours away.

Dss sells complete motors don't they? I didn't see any on there sight to look at. Are they about the same price range as T&J and Livernois? As for gears do you guys have a certain brand that you like better? I was thinking just ford racing or Richmond but don't know much about either one. Also, do I need to get an install kit with the gears or would a garage have all the stuff that comes in an install kit?
Thanks
