Well my windshield is broken and I have to get a new one but I dont want to get a brand new one because of the cost. I could get one from a 79+ stang for free but I dont know if it will fit. Are the windshields on all fox stangs the same???

The windshield from the '79 will definitely fit. I took the original windshield from my '79 Cobra and gave it to my brother, who installed it in his '90 LX. They are the same. The only difference was that the '79 windshield had a solid black edge that ran along the entire outside diameter of the glass, while the '90 had the black edge with dots.
I don't believe that you can swap hatchback windshields into convertibles though. If you're going "hatch to hatch," you'll be fine.

Alright HISSIN thanks alot, thats all I needed to know. Oh actually any idea how hard it is to change a windshield. What do I need to do? Or should I just get someone to do it for me?

It's not really hard to change the windshield, but it does take some time. Especially if you have to remove both windshields and then install one of them after removal. I actually used a flexible 1 inch wide putty knife to slice through the sticky (extremely sticky!) goop that they install it with. Man, was it time consuming. If I had to do it all over again, I would just invest in a new one and hire a glass company to do it. Sometimes, it's easier to work overtime and take that money to hire someone, rather than take up a whole day's worth of your own labor (which you don't get paid for!)

I changed mine and it wasn't too hard.I picked up one of those windshield tools with the blade on the bottom at 90 deg to the handle.The spots where the knife wouldn't reach I used a piece of wire to saw through.If you are out at the wreckers grab a hood release cable as the wire works good for removing windshields and it has a handle at one end already.When the old windshield is out and the old sealant removed it is a good time to straighten out the frame as the factory leaves it pretty wavy.I test fitted mine first before I put any new sealant down and once I had it where I wanted it and I knew how the shims at the bottom would look I placed pieces of masking tape on the windshield and on the body next to it and marked them both so I could place the windshield in the same spot.Pick up some urethane window adhesive from an autobody supply store and follow the directions to install the windshield.There was a post yesterday about 1/4 glass sealant and one of the responses was from an auto glass installer.You might want to PM him to see if he has any tips.

Hey - shop the price around. I got mine installed on my convertible for 152.46. That's windshield, professional installation, etc. This is something you want sealed right - leaks suck.

Insurance companies only cover glass if you're insured for FULL coverage. If you have the BASIC policy, it won't cover glass (at least in Massachusetts.)
