Think it's a good investment?

My buddy bought an Eaton roots-type blower for his 98 V6'er and then sold the car, never installing the blower. It's brand new, and sitting in his basement. He said I can have the whole kit for 500$... unfortunately, I'll need to buy some extra stuff to make it work on my 4.6L.

He said we could buy everything needed (Lower intake, some little stuff) and he'll help me install it for $500.

This means for 1000$, I could have a roots-type blower on my 4.6L.

What do you guys think? Too good to be true?

IMO itll end up costing you a lot more than a grand with all the custom fabbing needed.

What kind of buddy charges to help install things? Unless he's a professional doing it for a living. Otherwise thats bunk.. I constantly help my friends fix or mod their cars and I'm not charging them. Or do you mean the extra stuff will cost 500?

You won't be able to buy a manifold for that blower anywhere...None of the companies will sell it to you....

Well, the AED kit uses the Eaton and even the 6psi kit will run you $3400.00.

Even though the eaton AED kits price includes the cost of the intercooler, you're still about a $2500.00 difference. So don't count on it costing you anywhere near only $500.00 extra.

Also, the kit he's got is most likely off of a Thunderbird SC or Early Cougar XR7. In that case, only the 3rd Generation Eatons used on the last couple year models of the Thunderbird are worth while to you. The rest are bunk!

Guess I'll kindly deny the blower.

Thanks for the advice, as always!
