I was feeling heavy footed today. So, I left my development and stomped the throttle. I was obviously spinning with smoke billowing through 1st, 2nd and reaching the rev limit in third gear when I heard a huge BANG! The hood jumped up about 3 inches like something came up and hit it from underneath. The car died, so I let it roll over to the side of the road. It scared the CRAP out of me. Anyway, I popped the hood, which wouldn't close afterwards, and noticed that the discharge tube was completely seperated from the throttle body. I am pushing about 15 pounds of boost right now. So, thank god I was only a block away from home. I ran home, grabbed my tools and hooked the tube back up. Now, I feel like the car is idling a little rough. I have to check the motor mounts next just to be sure I didn't break anything. I seriously thought someone shot at my car!

reminds me of this story my friend at my work told me today while he was in UTI tech school:

"So there is this rich snobby kid who has a worked SN95 GT with a heavy shot of NOS. And since there is a mustangdyno at the school, he wanted to dyno his car. So this kid gets in his stang and since hes a rich-daddy-buys-everything kind of kid, he doesn't quite know how the shop he took the car to installed the nitrous. Little did he know that he had no safety cover for the nitrous switch. So when he leans in to start the car he hits the nitrous button with the KEY ON, but ENGINE OFF. So its pumping nitrious into the engine now.....he starts the car up and *BOOM!!!!* the upper intake blows straight up denting the hood and blowingt the intake off the engine completely, even the heads were 2" off the deck of the block. ....2 weeks later his parents bought him a brand new car...."

And I bet that kid chit his pants just as bad as you did

CobraRed... Oh yeah, I let it warm up... You never take a car with my setup out cold. you'll kill it. That had nothing to do with why the discharge tube blew off. The problem was my strut tower brace. Since I have the throttle body spacer, the discharge tube is kind of crooked due to the brace being in the way. Needless to say, after that incedent, I removed the brace all together and tightened the all hell out of the hose retainers.

Droptop: Whats up dude! yeah, I've been saving for the wedding and haven't really done anything more to the car... .yet! Come spring, I'm doing the paint, seats, suspension, brakes and wheels which will about complete the project for now. Have you installed the blower yet?

Adrnln: Yo man! Long time no hear! I hope your cars running good. Have you been by the shop lately? I haven't seen Craig since his daughter was born in May.

I did the very same thing with my car 1 month after I installed the vortech. Not as severe...the hood remained latched, but I crapped myself big time!! I seriously thought I cooked the motor because I kept trying to restart the car and it was out dead cold. I was ready to call a tow truck when my friend noticed the discharge tube separated from the TB. I crossed my fingers and went to start the car and sure enough it fired right up again! I needed new underwear shortly thereafter.

what's going on AMbo.. Long time no hear... Congrats on your new setup! I hope everything runs good. I'll be getting back into the Mustang project next month. I am about to order wheels, but not sure which ones to go with. Anyone have any new deep dish staggered setups for me to look at? I am still sold on either HRE's, or CCW's... If there are any others you guys can show me, I'd appreciate it!
