Hi guys. I will admit it. I've been "lurking" for about 3 weeks while trying to decide whether or not to take the plunge again. I owned an '89 LX 5.0 back in my late teens-early twenties and I was wondering whether or not I should jump back in or not. This site has has re-energized me, and I ordered one tonight! I can't wait! I ordered an '07 the same way as I would've ordered an '06-meaning I didn't opt for any of the new options like a Sirius radio, heated leather, or the hood scoop/appearance pkg. I ordered tunsten grey, charcoal leather, IUP (satin) and 5 sp. with the Shaker 500.

The only thing that I'm not 100% sure of is the rear end ratio. I assume that it will be a 3.55 but I cannot get the dealer to confirm that.

Apart from that, I'm getting exactly what I want and I can hardly wait the 2 mo. until she arrives!

I went to a dealer the other day and told them I was interested in ordering rather than selecting from their inventory. The salesman said he hadn't dealt with ordering, rather they would take my specifications and try to trade with another dealership if they had what I wanted. I'm under the impression from the posts here that you can in fact order a mustang exactly the way you want it. Can anyone fill me in on the process from ordering to delivery? Thanks, chris

Update:

Hi guys. A recent update: I just switched from Tungsten to a new colour called "Alloy Metallic". I read another post on this site last night, I saw a pic (of an '07 Shelby) and holy cow!!! What a colour!!!

I called the stealership this am and I was able to get them to switch it to Alloy.

cowtown, thanks for the confirmation. I spoke to the salesguy again today, and he "assumed" that it will be a 3:55.

cfiscel, you can 100% order an '07 right now. The US has been able to order for approx. 2-3 weeks. In Canada I believe that the '07 info. was in place around the start of the "Family Price" campaign (last Thurs.). Do not let them tell you that you need to "buy from inventory"-thats a load of crap. I know that certain GTA dealers like Summit Ford have a boatload of '06's still on their lots (not that I'm suggesting that they'd force an '06 on anyone).

As stated you should have no issues with ordering a 07. Once I told my saleswoman what I was looking for and they didn't have it on the lot she said, "well lets just order you an 07" - Done.

That is what happened to me with my dealer.:nice: That, among all the other things he did to make a good experience for me, will make me a repeat customer.

A salesperson who will not order a car upon customer request is not worth dealing with.

Can you generally get a better deal when ordering? This is the route I want to take when ready. Unfortunately, I'm in a lease with 22 payments remaining. It's an 04 Monte Carlo and the last dealer quoted me at around $11,000 trade-in. Payoff is $18,500 so I'm looking at $7,500 negative equity. My evil side says run the car into a tree, total it, walk away owing nothing, and jump into my dream GT. Damn conscience! Someday.....Chris

BlackGT06: Thanks for the congrats. As I said, I can't wait, I'm like my 7 yr. old son @ Xmas time!

Toms_2003_Stang: the '07 offers a few new goodies like:

- Sirius satellite
- DVD navigation (late '06/early '07)
- power passenger seat/heated seats
- appearance pkg. with hood scoop (non-functional)

I personally passed on all of these for $$ reasons. Although I would've liked the heated seats. I already own a Sirius Sportster; I (personally) don't like the small-ish hood scoop; and DVD nav would be a BIG waste of money for me as this will not be a long-distance car, it will be more of a cruiser/street car for me.
