Looking for 350 to 400HP

Engine guy said around $2300 bucks. Its just for me to play with in my stang, nothing major. He mentioned hypertetic pistons (I`m sure that aint spelled right) working the heads, not sure what else.

Does anyone know what questions I need to ask him?

Yeah, why are you spending $2300 on an engine when you can buy a new one with a warranty for $3400?

Hypereutectic. Are you sure it needs a rebuild?

My bad. The price from Summit went up to $4k.

What exactly is wrong with the engine you just got you need to rebuild it?

(Correct me if I'm wrong w/ this, CraigMBA.) I think he's asking if you're sure it needs to be rebuilt. Does it run, and is it useable as it sits? Are you just having the engine builder check it out, modify it, or what? Can you put it in your car and drive it for a while, and modify later when you know what you want from it?

I want it BUILT for abuse

This is my mid life crisis car guys.... I just want it to scare me when I flog it, thats all. Adrenaline rushs are harder to get when your pushing 40 and you`ve been around the block a few times if you know what I mean.

Realistically it prob wont get abused much, but just knowing its there is a good feeling.

I`m looking to go balanced rotating assemble, forged pistons, good heads, nothing major...

What year is it?

Does it have aluminum heads?

You need to buy a damper and a flexplate/flywheel anyway. You might consider a 331 stroker from Coast High or Scat.......it will cost you about the same money.

BTW, the chassis......you got brakes yet?

Do you know what year motor it is and if it is out of a Mustang or what car it came out of ? The motors in Mustangs from I believe 87 to 91 or 92 came with factory forged pistons and the ones after that came with the hypeur-what-ever type pistons.

Engine guy

Said that it a 92 to 96 motor, that I couldn`t get the roller setup with the forged pistons. He also stated the motor needed bored so it wouldn`t matter if it had forged pistons or not, cause I`m replacing them.

Sounds to me like a motor that was beat up and needs a rebuild.
Engine guy said around $2300 bucks. <----- is this including the rebuild ?

Engine is $300

from another guy, he is also giving me a set of GT-40 heads, flywhell and harmonic balancer too.

The $2300 is for the machine work and 331 stroker kit. Forged pistons 30 bored 30 over.
