Ok, I figured I'd let you guys know. I got the MGW shifter for my car.. www.mgwltd.com

It has 2 choices of handles, one more sporty, one more just for easy driving. I tried both handles and set them in. They both sit really really low in the console, not sure if that's the same for everyone. All the pics are at http://www.starshadow.com/~gael/pictures/mustangii/shifter/

Before I had this shifter, I had the Steeda Tri-Ax, I like both a lot, my dad didn't like the Tri-Ax at all though, too notchy for his feel, he also didn't think it found the gears easy enough. I agree with him some, there were times where 3rd didn't come too easy. I haven't had an issue yet on this one, centering spring feels strong. It's definately a quality piece. And no I'm not trying to give them advertisement or anything

The adjustable shifter location is pretty ideal for us, since our T5s probably don't really fit in our console perfectly.

I hope this helps anyone who's in the market for an aftermarket T5 shifter.. the one thing I like about the Tri-Ax more is that it sat higher so it was easier to grab, but after just a bit of driving with this one, I'm already liking it alot, I just wasn't used to it sitting so low.

Here's a bit of an example of the throw, not perfect.

Yeah mine's a bit modified too.. we took that center ring out. I needed to for the triax I think. We also hacked off a bit of the area around where the shifter goes in, so we could reach the bolts. We then bought some sheetmetal and cut it to fit over the metal and under the carpet, so that it still seals, and offers protection.

I'm happy with it right now. I want to try the blue handle again though. See if an even shorter throw would feel good.
