So I told this girl that I’m seeing that I wasn’t doing anything for Valentine’s Day and today the lady that sits next to me at work gets this big thing of flowers. So then I feel obligated and called and ordered 6 white roses…..$60, damn! Then I’m like alright well what am I gonna do just give her the flowers and leave? No. Now I have dinner reservations so that’s gonna be another $60-$80. Fortunately she doesn’t drink so that will keep the bill down, but you better believe I’m gonna, especially after spending $100+ on this stupid commercial holiday.

So basically I’m spending money for no good reason when I could buy stuff for my car or go out with my friends and have a pretty good time with ~$150. I wish I was back in college where girls never stuck around past 11:00am.

Who else is a sucker?

well i know my brother just got suckered, his girl had some sh-t delivered to the house, a nice basket with a teddy bear and some roses. about 20 minutes after that he was off to the florist. i didn't get my woman anything yet. i cant see the point of buying outrageously overpriced flowers only to have them die in a few days. i dont know what the f-ck to get her now. i know we're going to eat later but i mean come on, what else do these woman need?

I never expect flowers...everytime I've ever been asked did I want flowers...i say, no...if you're gonna spend that much on flowers that'll die in 2 days, just give me the money, and I'll go buy myself something that I can wear or use.

If anyone needs some ideas for your women...spa gift certificates are cool...gift card for a manicure or pedicure...Bath & Body Works gift card...or, if they're like me, car stuff is a wonderful gift for any holiday!

My girlfriend is really an artsy-fartsy kind of person so if I don't get flowers, I'm really in trouble. The good thing about it is that she really doesn't care about fancy dinners or that other bull****. I usually end up cooking something stupid and we end up chillin out watching a movie or something.

Today she got a dozen roses, some really cool Tropical Flower arrangement deal, The Notebook (the movie ), and some ****ty wine that she likes.

I got a half gallon of Jack Daniels....and I think my other present is coming tonight.

I for one never buy flowers for the reasons nc_stang_girl wrote... they die in three days and then you throw them away. I usually get my wife gift certificates to day spas, jewlery, or some other present that is acutally worth the insane money they charge for stupid flowers. This year I got her an hour massage at a local spa.

I just picked up a vacuum-check-valve as a gift for the G/F.

I agree with others about flowers - she feels the same. She will take potted plants but not flowers (which is cool since no one jacks up the price of plants).

I've found that Valentine's day can actually be very cheap, you just have to plan things out. While jewelry, flowers, typical and traditional presents are fine, they are expensive and you can do without them. I just always do something creative and gushy (yes it's hyper-emotional and girly, but she always loves it and she knows how to repay me...). Spending money is not essential, this year I got by with $22 and she cried she was so happy. All I will say is that it involved a nice card, a handwritten note, some streamers, and A LOT of post-it notes.

This actually is my worst Valentines ever. My girlfriend of over two years who I was gonna ask to marry me on Valentines (I already got the ring). Dumped me two weeks ago cause she has to much going on with school and work. It was only three weeks ago she was ready to get married and start planning a family. Talk about a horrible Valentines mine has never sucked any worse than it does now.
