This actually is my worst Valentines ever. My girlfriend of over two years who I was gonna ask to marry me on Valentines (I already got the ring). Dumped me two weeks ago cause she has to much going on with school and work. It was only three weeks ago she was ready to get married and start planning a family. Talk about a horrible Valentines mine has never sucked any worse than it does now.

now you can return that ring which my guess was around 500 bucks maybe more. and get something for yourself.

Damn Chris, I'm sorry to hear that, but its always best to end a relationship before marriage and children are introduced into the mix. It'll all work out man!

I don't understand most girls' huge obsession with this stupid materialistic commercialized holiday. I recently went to USC to visit my gf, went to dinner, saw her play in concert, etc. She's a huge music fan so i got her this badass Bob Marley poster i found cuz she's a big fan. We had a great time. Today i find out that some of her friends ( and one of my REALLY good friends from home.....a dude) came in her room, and made her sit down and talk about what a bad bf and how lazy i am for not giving her flowers or giving her chocolate or some crap. I go to school 200 miles away from her. I'm sitting here thinking do they actually KNOW how much a dozen roses costs to be delivered on valentine's day on top of that? I'm in college; i don't have $120 to spend on god damn flowers. Like they really made a big deal out of this. And now she's mad. Just SO much friggin dramma over something some friggin dumb so i'm really considering breaking up with her now; despite that she's a great girl i just dont wanna deal with it.

Its CRAZY and just plain f u ckin pathetic that people will actually make it THEIR business to sit down and start a jerk circle on how bad i am because of this BS holiday. Next time i see that dude, i'm cracking him in the face. What a little bitch.

Thanks Paul, she has just had a rough time lately. First she got robbed at gunpoint as she was walking to her apartment, then she finds out her dad has lung cancer, now she has to look for a new apartment (her first time away from home she is in college and over 200 miles from home). As well as the big thing know as trying to get accepted into pharmacy school.

She just needs time to get her life back on track.

Humbug...

The whole v-day thing sucks over here... Not only is it v-day but it's my mothers birthday also so I had to get her something. I don't mind it, it's just that with college and working less hours the money isn't really there. But I got my girlfriend a dozen roses, a set of earrings, and took her out to the olive garden for dinner.. Then we just spent the rest of the night watching comedy central..

I'm all go for the steak and BJ day.. I mean.. wtf..

I've found that Valentine's day can actually be very cheap, you just have to plan things out. While jewelry, flowers, typical and traditional presents are fine, they are expensive and you can do without them. I just always do something creative and gushy (yes it's hyper-emotional and girly, but she always loves it and she knows how to repay me...). Spending money is not essential, this year I got by with $22 and she cried she was so happy. All I will say is that it involved a nice card, a handwritten note, some streamers, and A LOT of post-it notes.

Yeah man, chicks do dig that kinda stuff. I usually try to do something semi-creative each year.

This year I cleaned my girl's room (while she was at class) as her creative surprise kinda thing. The room is 14'x14' and it took me 5 HOURS to clean. Gross.

Last year, I did this trail of post-it notes that had hand written notes on them and clues on how to get to the next note, and so on. At the end she got found her present. She loved it.

Im pretty sure we are around the same age (im 21 in april) and from the sounds of it, our gf's are also. Its a shame how much other crap can affect love and happiness but it does. Thats the reason why being young and in a serious relationship is so damn hard. But from the sound of it, you guys will bounce back. Its happend to me plenty of times. Maybe she should start seeing you as something that helps her life...and not clutter it all up. If she feels that she has too much pressure on her for your relationship, then something should change. Give her space, but tell her to keep in mind what you guys have. And that neither of you should do anyting that will harm that. Cause you will only regret it later.

One other thing i've learned is that if u do stuff out of the blue...then Feb. 14 turns into "just another day". My girl loves the random stuff i do...because at that point its really heart felt. Where as, like we are all saying, doing stuff for holidays isnt a heart felt thing. Well no, we do put thought into it, but its because of the date. And not just cause something we wanted to do. I dunno if that makes sense. I guess my point is to take pressure off of V-day, surprise her with similar things on July 23 or Aug 18 or December 6 or April 17 or Jan 22. Im sure you'd get twice the reaction if u did what we do on v-day...on any other day "just because".

Couldn't have said it better myself. That is my exact outlook on things. When we do see each other since we go to school at different places, i try to do as much for her as i can; take her out, go see movies, go to concerts etc. We've been dating for almost 5 months and i have spent hundreds of dollars on her. She's only given me $1 in all that time. yes ONE dollar. And i don't mind because i love making her happy. But its like the SECOND i miss a beat, especially on such a commercial holiday, all of a sudden i'm a bad boyfriend, according to her friends, who doesn't deserve her. They've known me for two weeks. F uck that. So for the past few days, i have not talked to her and she's apparantly been super upset over it. But i just dont feel like dealing with such insane dramma. I've had too much of it in the past and i'm not bending over anymore. Period.
