I have a million nitrous questions. . .

I was thinking, just for jollies, I may try out a Stage 1 EFI Nitrous Express kit with a 75 or 100 shot nozzle and 10 lb bottle.\

Sorry if these sound like dumb questions, but since I guess they are supposed to be common knowledge, I can't find any info on alot of it.

1- They say the kits are ready to install and run, but is there anything else I would need?

2- Is a bottle warmer necessary? My trunk gets insanely hot as it is.

3- I was also wondering about how long would a 10 lb bottle last with the 100-shot nozzle.

4- how much does it usually cost to fill them? I assume it's by the pound.

5- Is it bad to keep the bottle open? If I had to open it everytime I wanted to use it, I'd probably never use it! I would probably end up with a remote bottle opener.

6- Do the kits come with decent instructions?

7- What kind of concerns should I have with running it, meaning what kinf of bad symptoms should I look for to keep things safe?

8- What would be the most I would want to run to keep from messing up the bone stock 90k mile motor? 50, 75, 100 shot?

9- Does the nozzle go before or after the ACT sensor.

10- Would I need to buy an MSD box to retard timing or anything like that?

11- What all would I want to install to make sure everything is running safely. What kind of plugs, ignition stuff, pump etc etc. . .

12- what kind of guages would I want to install? Bottle pressure?

13- When it's all said and done, what kind of cost would I be looking at? This is important since if it's way too much, I'll put the money to other things. I don't want somethig crazy, just something fun to play with.

I'm really just looking for something to play around with. I know I could get plenty of other performance mods for the money, but I want something more interesting to install and tinker with, so I've been exploring this idea.

Thanks for any answers!!

1. Plugs, gapped at .30-.35 one stage colder (autolites).
2. No its not, i would only say to get it if its get cold alot, like up here in the northeast.
3. Not to long, ive heard a 55 shot will run a full 2.5 minutes straight, not sure if thats correct. When i was running a 100 shot, i would notice it being down on power after 4 or 5 runs. Thats what sucks about n20, is its inconsistant.
4. 35-40, yes its per pound.
5. I dont think its bad, i always kept mine open. I actually put the bottle as close to the back seat as possible, so i could fold the seat down and reach the bottle nob with my hand while driving (someone holding the wheel), but im 6-4 so that might not be an option!
6. The zex kit i had came with great instructions, very simple.
7. Just watch out for detonation, run 93 or 91 gas, watch the plugs for a lean sign.
8. I would run a max of 125, some people go with 150.
9. After, on the kit i had it was 3 inchs before the tbody i believe.
10. Nope, just retard ur timing.. 8 degrees advance for 100 shot, 10 for 75.
11. Autolites, one stage cooler. I had a 190lph at the time and a AFPR.
12. Bottle pressure would be nice, but its not needed.
13. Whatever the kit costs plus some electrical connectors, some vac hose, and plugs.

most come as a base kit with hardly any saftey measures. if i was going to install nitrous on my car, i would run all the following devices in series so that if one of them was not right, it wouldnt fire : window switch (turns on solenoids in a set rpm "window"), wot switch (explains itself), fuel pressure switch (turns off nitrous if fp goes too low), and then the master arming switch

If you get the NX Efi stage 1 like I did, maybe you should buy the GENX-2 kit as well. You'll have bottle warmer, Fuel cutoff safety switch, purge, etc. Good kit. Cant wait to try my kit this summer :nice: You need a few guages, that window switch is a must. You shouldnt start spraying before 3000rpm. Stop at around 5800rpm.

your best investment are a window switch and atemperature controlled bottle warmer and a nitrous pressure guage.

if you street race, guage in the car and remote bottle opener are a good idea
