I have a tremec in my car.....

Well after all this time of working on my car, I found out I have a tremec. I have no idea how I never reliezed this before. Could somebody help me identify exactly what model it is? Part number on the side is a C-2605865. Thanks guys

Josh

Well neither Tremec or Summit list that part number. My guess is that you've got a late model T5, since Tremec made the T5s for Ford. That's the most i could tell you without looking at it.

There is be an aluminum strip tag attached to one of the bolts that holds the tailshaft housing on. It will have a 13-52-xxx part number. That is the actual transmission part number.

In 1989 Borg Warner was still making the T-5, so if his trans has Tremec on it, then the original owner either:

A.) Blew up the T-5 and replacing it with a new T-5 post 1997 when Tremec bought out B/W

B.) Put in a 3550

If you have a stronger tremec (3550, tko, tko 500/600) your shifter base will be held on with 6 bolts not 4 like a T5.
You will also have two sheet metal covers on the top of the trans.

Note: the above trans has a relocated shifter. The Mustang version has the shifter located further aft.
