[FONT=verdana, arial, geneva]EVERETT - Police in Everett are asking for the public's help in locating a man who ran down an Everett firefighter Thursday evening.
Everett Police Lt. Ted Olafson said two firefighters were jogging on a sidewalk near their fire station on Evergreen Way when a man driving a Ford Mustang pulled into a parking lot to turn around.
With the car spanning the sidewalk, one of the firefighters tapped on the rear of the Mustang so the driver would know not to back into them, Olafson said.
The firefighters continued jogging back toward Station Six but the Mustang driver was apparently angered by the men having touched his car. Olafson said the man made a sharp turn and accelerated directly at the two firefighters, striking one of them.
The firefighter was hit by the front of the Mustang and thrown into the hood. Everett Fire Department spokesman Warren Burns said the firefighter was taken to an area hospital to be checked out and is expected to be okay.
Police said the driver was likely going about 30 miles per hour when he struck the firefighter. Investigators were seen measuring a long stretch of skid marks visible on the ground where the man was hit.
The driver of the Mustang sped off and remains at large.
Police said the car is a metallic blue Ford Mustang hardtop, built between 1996 and 1998. The license plate is not known. The Mustang may have damage to the hood or windshield. Anyone with information is asked to call the Everett Police Department's tip line at 425-257-8450.

Man you know how the media swings stories. Plus their only telling their side of it. The two firefighters probably did a lot more than tap on the back of the car. Still no reason to run a man down though.

yeah. that makes sense... the fire fighter taps his car and he's angry so he smashes into the firefighter causing damage to the car? i definitely think there's more to the story.

wow, no compassion in here. this guy in the stang should be tied down and ran over a few times. i hate people like that. dont get me wrong, the media does blow stuff out of proportion and all, but in this world maybe they did just tap the car to say hey dont run over me. i was at wal-mart once and this lady in an explorer was driving right at me so i put out the "STOP SIGN" with my hands and she got an attitude. "I wasnt gonna hit you". Well, lets see, i didnt know that and id rather be safe than sorry you know. nothing surprises me anymore. i hope they catch him though. you see the worst part is the criminal act of the hit and RUN. straight piece of shi& individual that needs to rot in prison.

I have compassion but after days of watching the media blow up hurricane Wilma situations I don't believe crap they say. I can believe that they only tapped the car, but I also believe they could have beat on the car too. That in no way means run over people, but because they wear a uniform doesn't makes them angles either. I have no idea how the people are in that area but I can tell you I wouldn't mind running over a few people a couple of times down here. I may sound bitter but a few days after this hurricane people can bring the worst out of everybody.

I dunno...

I'm at both ends of the field here so i'll fence sit this one.

I would have to agree with wyt on this...

Even if I was a hot headed road raging jackass...
You would have to do more to me than tap the back window of my car.
I would suspect they probably punched his back window to get his attention, and that was probably what tipped him off.

Granted, i wouldnt run them over, because i wouldn't want to damage my car..
but i can tell you if someone were to punch my back window, regardless of me potentionally "running them over" or not...
i would roll down my window and at least have a few words...
i love my bat in the back seat of my car...

I carry an old school metal easton softball bat in my back seat. I get mad when someone touches my car but I'd never hurt anyone over it like that guy did. Well unless it it was deliberate vandalism then I'd just punch them or something.

It's a good idea to keep something like that around.
No joke, I don't go looking for trouble by any means, but other people do. And it's a good idea to keep yourself safe. It's not going to stop a bullet, but some punk with a knife will think twice.
