does anyone have any clue wat all these wires are for?? there seems to be ALOT more than their should be. i noctice them trying to get the power locks on the doors to work. keyless entry works but the door buttons dont. there are alot of random singles wires around crimped to one another. the first picture is a pic of where my keyless entry is located and some of the wires going to it.

here is a pic of the huge cluster of wires

this is an example of the random crimped wires

one of the randoms wires is grounded right here which doesnt seem factory

also i dont know what this white box thing is for....??

thanks for any guesses

This pic looks like you have an aftermarket car alarm installed. There isn't a ton of room under that dash to hide an addition of aftermarket wires. That would be my guess. Maybe the alarm "brains" are still installed from a previous owner?

Yup, definately looks like you have a deal installed alarm system. What are you trying to do? take it out?

umm if i have an alarm in this car im gonna be surprised.... is that what the white box is? im just trying to figure out why my power lock buttons on the door do not work. the keyless entry works but thats it. i already have found a bulldog alarm system in it (hooks up direct to battery and sits in bumper cover).

Get some part numbers off that black box and give your local Ford dealership a call.
They should have some info for you.

I would guess that it is an Alarm system that the previous owner did not bother to remove when the aftermarket unit was installed.

Send me your offsite email address & I will send you a wiring diagram manual for your 89 Mustang. It has a wire color to circuit function lookup list. The diagram is too big to pass throug Stangnet's email gateway.

That box with the FORD logo on it is a dealer installed alarm/keyless entry. It was installed at the FORD dealer some time ago. Do not remove that. I removed that on my 91 GT and the locks and windows would not work. I had to dig through the garbage and get it out. I also had a lot of cripped wires and things of that nature....it was a mess. I put it all back together and the locks and windows worked again.

After I reinstalled it the locks worked intermittently. It turned out I also had a bad power lock switch on the passenger side, and both lock actuators were weak. I replaced the switch and actuators and they worked like a brand new car once again.
