While out with a buddy of mine the other night, we happened upon a group of about ten ricers. The first five cars were evo VIII's, followed by a few STI's and one gay CRX heading up the rear. We followed, and saw them turn in to the "new washington square" in Beaverton. We cased the area and later saw that they are hanging out in the parking garage of the mall. It is new, dry, well-lit and private. Sunday night at 11pm sounds pretty hard core to me. The stangnet crew should take it over! :SNSign:

They are also hanging out at Hollywood Video next to Winco foods and Target parking lot in Vancouver. They are getting 50~100 cars on a dry Friday and Saturday night. They appear to be showing up around 10ish and are getting quite a crowd of fast EWOKS :nice:

I know what youre talking about, quite amussing, arent they? They dont like to come out when its cold, since theyve stripped their car of insulation and heating equipment to shave .01 off their ET. Id like to stir things up there some time, when my truck is finished, Ill be over there for sure for a few kicks and giggles.

That gathering, from what I heard, started after the portland meadows scene was broken up. In high school, meadows had several hundred cars on friday/saturday nights. Target is a smaller, much more pathetic gathering. Varian, Geoff, myself and an old high school friend with a blown BMW ventured up there last summer. Varian was very disappointed because there were, "No fast cars."
The guys I saw here in Beaverton were staffers and customers from the local import parts pedler, "Speed Concepts." Most of the guys are around my age and, from what I have heard, there is only one ASE certified mechanic there. The technician in question used to work at Tune-A-Car, which is next door. He drives a hideous, teal colored dually, that is lowered with a bunch of wierd parts on it. It was comical to see that truck amidst a long string of EVO VIII's and STI's.

I'll go with you later in the spring. I think I should be able to beat most of them in the Bronco II...that is, if I can keep it stable!:D

I got told about this gathering from a ranger owner with an SVO motor swap urging me to come "stir it up". So I went there just to see what the deal was and found the owner of Pro Image out there with his 03? Viper and an 04 Z06 owner with a SCT tuner and some exhaust mods. Not to mention the WRX's and Bimmers followed by the 1000-pissed-off-bumble-bees in-one-tin-can cars. I would say that was some decent muscle... Must just be the night.

Did you see an Steel Grey '06 Subi STi? :jester: :rlaugh: :D

Bahaha, those new STIs might as well be called STDs, hideous sons of bitches they both are.

We should have a Stangnet meet there some night starting before the ricers show up, theyd roll up and not know what to do with so many ponnies kicking around.

Speed and ricer... sounds like an oxymoron to me.

that sounds like something fun to crash with my next planned daily driver. a first gen rx7 with a mild 302 and a t-5. its almost a direct swap into the rx7s and www.grannysspeedshop.com sells a pretty much complete swap for 900$ all you need to supply is the motor and trans wich i already have.
AWESOME! Good to hear of someone doing a swap with good ole Blue Oval gear instead of that junkie bowtie crap. I sure do love all gens of the RX7's. I had an 85 with the Mazda runnin gear of course (12a :( ) but it sure was fun!!!

  Too funny. I agree that sure would be cool, but unfortunately a LOT of our key players just sold thier hot rods in favor of halling leaves and pine needles with their non Ford products...:notnice:

Eh, all we need is muscle in case things get out of hand, and Im not talking about the ponies.

I wont be in a hot rod, but the SC Ranger might turn a few heads down there. I know of a few other guys whod probably be down for the meet (should it actually happen).

im a huge rx7 fan. my first car was a 89 tII it was fund but spendy thats why i got my 5.0 casue it was cheaper in the long run. and i figure why not combine two things i like together. cant beat a 14 sec car for around 2 grand

You guys let me know when you wanna go. I dont know about the Krispy cream meetups cause I have never gone by there at night, but I have been to the one by Target.

Such big ego's here it's quite the crack up. Who gives to ishts if they enjoy getting together and hanging out with each other as there are some on this very web board who's Mustangs would get absolutely hammered by even the most lightly modded civics and imports.

Who cares if the best mech in the whole group works at Tune-a-car as I have many, many friends in L.A that build and race 600-1000hp imports and have never been to an organized mechanics class in their life, yet more about import motors then their.

Fact is the road is a HUGE place with room for us all, and if they like to take their pos cars out and have fun meeting up, it's not because they think they are better then the others it just means they like to meet up like us with like minded people.

Not big egos, rather, we all like to gather on the boards and BS with eachother. I have respect for the few built and tuned imports out there, but theyre leaning more toward the tuner, not ricer. And a mildly modded Honda? Maybe a mildly modded new Civic SI will take near stock GTs (SN97) and Fox bodies.

Tim, youre not invited  Just kiddin man, some of those pop can sized engine wheelers may need some serious humbling. You can come too. :nice:
