I just want a clutch kit that will return it to the factory feel. I dont need a super duper high torque racing clutch. What brands do you all recommend?

I know i just said I didnt want a racing clutch, but whats up with the Ford Racing Clutch kit? Its pretty reasonably priced compared to some of the kits sold at Oreillys and Parts America. I dont mind spending a little extra for Ford parts... I just dont want it to be a real stiff racing type clutch.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would use a Valeo KC clutch without reservations on a relatively stockish car (or someone wanting the slippage that an organic disk can provide).

Valeo is OEM and outstanding.

Good luck.

KC for sure. I had one back in the day of light bolt on's. The regular SVO Heavy Duty clutch is garbage. I had one of these and it last only 9000 miles when the car made about 225HP.

So, I have done some online shopping and have seen a couple different "King Cobra" kits.... (Ford Racing, Valeo, Lux, etc... ) I am assuming that the Ford version in the one everybody is speaking about (part #FMS-M-7560-C302N)? Summit also has a part #FMS-M-7560-A302N that is $20 cheaper... anyone know what the difference is?

Where have you found the best (cheapest, quickest) place to get it?

Thanks,
Gary

I had heard similar rumors (that not all KC's were Valeo). I have nothing other than internet rumor to go from though.

My motorsport HD had over 50k miles on it and never let me down. Maybe it was a quality control thing? I also had tons of track passes, street passes, nitrous and I learned how to drive stick on it so it was abused Only reason I had to swap it was because I switched to a 26 spline tko trans.

The HD pp is actually better than the KC pp. I remember when Paul (killercanary) posted his info on this.

I'm running an FRPP clutch that I had coated in kevlar. I love it! It also has the "factory feel" to it.

Any more experiences with the Ford HD or King Cobra clutch... on a fairly stock mustang?

Still trying to decide...

For a non-outrageous combo that is driven every day in traffic and not tracked (not to mention stock feeling, which you commented that you wanted), the KC is the way to go IMHO.

The fact that the HD might have a little more clamping force should not be of much matter, but its extra pedal effort would probably.

Good luck.

Thanks Hissin.. that is the kind of feedback I am looking for.

So the KC has less pedal effort than the HD... How is it in relation to the stock clutch... less, more, about the same pedal effort? Thats what I'm most concerned with. I want easy pedal effort without spending an arm and a leg.

My personal feeling was that the KC almost felt like a hydaulically actuated clutch - it was super easy to pedal vs the HD I am used to. But like I said, that is a personal thing since we all have our own perspectives.

I never used a stock clutch, so I cant comment. Others will be able to. Good luck.

I decided to go with the King Cobra. Installed it last week and it feels just like my stock 95 (not as soft as my parents '01). It grabs really well. I am a satisfied customer...
