My 69 hood has rust on the underside bracing and I am considering replacing it. My question is this, is all sheet metal created equal. I use NPD for most of my purchases and the have a hood available using OEM tooling. Any thoughts.

The Original Tooling Hoods are made on the same machines Ford used to build it originally. Except for date codes it's as good as it gets.

The repro, and original tool hoods are 1970. Does that matter to you?

After Ford started building the 1970 models, the 69 hoods were discontinued and Ford then serviced 69 models with the 70 version. Which means the only true 69 hoods are going to be used.

Yeah. It's a real pain if you're trying to do a nice 69.

Thanks in that case a replacement hood would be a 1970. Thanks for clearing that up

For a future 69 project--what are the differences between the 69 and 70 hoods?
