i need help figuring out what type of tranny i should get it has to be a manual and i want it to be able to handle almost anything i throw towards it thanks
That's a loaded question with a lot of highly subjective answers. Here's a few of your options:
- Tremec
- T-56 Viper-spec (if you've got more money than you know what to do with)
- G-Force
- Beefed-up rebuilt stock T-5 (with whatever brand internals you prefer)
How much power you put ahead of it shouldn't make a big issue, unless you're exceeding 300 to 350 horses. After all, you can destroy most any manual tranny with even a stock motor if you drive like a maniac and/or have an insane amount of grip on the rear end (slicks, 31-spline axles, and 4.10's, revved to 5k RPM and dumped).
What sort of duty will it see? All strip? Street/strip? All street? Autocross? If you're running mostly or all strip, you're probably better off looking into a beefy automatic than bothering with a manual of any sort - no worry of missed shifts, quicker gear changes, just as effective when coupled with a good torque converter, and generally stronger in the long run.
