I need help with this color (pic attached)

My current interior is the Armrest color - like a pale, milky grey - not asthetically pleasing ..at all.. They car allegedly has the Titanium Gray interior - is that really the color? Can anyone share pics to help verify or confirm?

The center console replacement unit is where I would like to go..that said, is it too much of a stretch to try to dye it that color? Would it just be easier to get Titanium and re-spray the panels including the center console?

My ultimate goal is a clean "refreshed" interior. Seats are black, rug and headliner are black.. everthing else is that weird gray color with the top half of my dash also black..

Thoughts? Advice? comments etc..

Titanium is a light gray, lighter than smoke. LMR has the spray dye and primer to make the console titanium. On this iPhone, the armrest looks kind of tan, and that’s not either color.

The armrest looks titanium to me. The titanium has more of a brownish gray look to it. Center console piece is probably smoke or opal. Depending on the year. Smoke was early cars 87 - 90. I believe and then opal from 91 to 93. If it is not the original interior then it is a wild guess which one. I think the opal is a little darker than the smoke. The console is an aftermarket piece so tough to say which colour it is. OEM had no cupholders.

Keep in mind, 30 years of sun, smoking, etc can really change the color of these panels.

If your titanium gray looks brown, it might need 30 years of junk cleaned off or re-stained. 5L5 is right about 30 years in the sun etc.
@stussy2870 what year is the car, and hopefully the interior?

Its a 92 - Interior code is DA - which i believe is Titanium w/ Cloth. All the panels match *SOMEWHAT* (some are lighter, some have more dirt etc) - that said, i think its the original interior but honestly, its impossible to know for sure.

Yes- its definitely dirty and will be thoroughly cleaned and prepped prior to any paint work. I'm just wondering at this point - what color to buy? I saw a post w/ someone who got the Titanium dye from LMR and it was a huge miss. It literally looked like the center console i posted above. I dont have a problem with going that direction outside of the extra cost and more work (Every panel out, multiple coats to change color vs a "refresh coat")

If the seats, rug and headliner are black, it's not a completely original interior. Those parts should be gray originally.

If the titanium spray is way off, I will not be very pleased when I install the same type of console piece in my car.

I haven't seen it myself but I suspect the colour is not way off but if you paint one piece and put in a 30 year old car......likely going to be a colour difference. I am currently doing the interior in one of mine but I am spraying the entire car to avoid that possibility.

When I had the seats recovered in my 91, the leather was close to the door panels and other hard plastics, but now you mention it, the vinyl on the rest of the front seats was no longer the color of the hard plastics or the leather. The new vinyl is plenty close to the hard plastics. But I can see that varying.

This past fall I used the titanium LMR paint/dye for my '91 white leather w/titanium interior pieces/trim and console. I had originally order 2 cans of titanium and 1 can of white. I had to order 1 additional can of titanium, 1 more white and a can of black. My results were definitely mixed (no pun intended!).

The first order of titanium was dead on and it sucked that I ran out and only had the cover below the steering column left to paint. I ordered a thrid can and it wasn't even close! It was WAY too light and I honestly think they mislabeled some smoke gray. The white was a split order and I used it as dye for the 'vert top boot. Both cans were dead on to the original white, not an easy thing with whites! The black was totally useless. If you need to do ANY black interior trim, just use SEM trim black.

My best recommendation with the LMR stuff is to order as much as you think you'll need +1. It covers light so count on at 2-3 coats minimum no matter whether you're painting plastic pieces or dyeing vinyl with it. I've been really happy with the stuff that matched. It adheres well and doesn't affect the molded grain on anything.
