is there any way to install airbags in a '69 mustang? my dad says that the insurance goes up alot without them. and if it's possible, where can i get it done. if you can help me out thatd be great. thanks :

yes it can be done if you are willing to do a ton of fabrication. you have to use the steering column from a similar car that has airbags installed, you need to a blow off panel on the passenger side, and a correctly sized airbag for that area. you then need all the airbag sensors, wiring, etc that goes with the system. THEN you have to be able to install the system, AND set it up to work in the stang. if you or your dad are engineers, then you could make the system work, if not then you are going to spend a ton of money getting someone else to make it work for you, and even then there is NO way to be sure the system will work properly, or even at all without testing the car as the factory does, running it into a concrete barrier at speeds above 35mph.

insurance rates are mostly based on the drivers record, age, type of car, and coverage. as far as airbag equipped cars being less expensive to insure, thats a load of bravo sierra. airbags are expensive to replace, so the insurance company is going to charge MORE in most cases, not less due to the cost of replacing the air bag. best to get quotes from various insurance companies and see what they say.

Age and driving record determine how much you pay. If you´re under 25, single, no kids, you´re a "high risk driver". The difference in premium for not having airbags, antilock brakes, etc, will only be minimal.
