Dunno about how much to get it to 12's, but i know a kit you need to buy

Zex dry with jetting for a 75 shot
"NOS" brand purge
"NOS" brand gauge

All ready to go. 400 bucks

I need to get my engine rebuilt.

Why don't you start with the basic stuff first:
Sticks-26x8.5
Gears-3.73 or 4.10
subframes
remove weight from car
bump timing

Not sure what else motor stuff you can do to a carb car?

Get a base line then bolt on the NOS. I'd say 75-100 shot. Just my 2 cents.

my car isnt fuel injected any more its carbed
4.10 s and slicks will be in the picture also
on the street i tried bumping my timing up to about 24-25degres
while running 110octane sunoco race fuel it made a huge differnce
i race a tricked out civic hatch that supposedly ran 13.8s and
i was taking him by about 2 car lengths when my alternator wiress
grouned out on a header and made my ign system cut out :damnit:

I know of a NOS brand kit. It is currently set as a EFI kit, but it is a wet kit and all you should need is to get a carb plate to convert it.. drop me a email or PM..

Is anything hacked up (wires, tubing, ect..) on the kit? Does it have other jets?

I don't know anything about those heads, but I don't see why you couldn't do put some decent heads on there, a good cam, gear it and run 12's N/A.

Truthfully, I think the car should run better than 14.2's as it sits. Maybe it's already got more in it and just needs tuning/finishing?

Redrum:

With a 3280 car and assuming that you weight somewhere in the 150 - 200 lb range you can expect about a 1/10th of a second every 10 hp shot... Thus to get your 14 second car into the high 12's you are going to need to run something close to a 200 shot... Pretty stiff stuff for a stock block, but can be done if the tune is spot on... I would start with something more reasonable like a 100 shot and see what happens... Then you can work on some other things, like heads, cam, gears, carb... Once that is done, then a 150 shot should put you into the 12's with no problem...

My last coupe ran 14.10 with exhaust, gears, pulleys and a meter with a 150k motor and AOD with a stock converter. On a 150hp NX single nozzle it ran 12.20. I added a intake, throttle body, and trick flow stage 2 cam and switched to a 100 shot NX plate and ran 11.70. With heads and a 150 shot it ran 11.1 at 122. The car was 3250 with me in it and 1/4 tank of gas. Thats all with a stock short block with a girdle.

AllFord:

We are basically saying the same thing... The NX system 150 shot gives you a true 150 at the wheels whereas the NOS 200 shot does not give you a true 200 at the wheels, but at the flywheel. The N20Jnky with basically stock heads/cam and 410 gears hit the low 12's on a 150 shot... With heads/cam and a little other stuff it could run there with a 100 shot... I think the real key to all of this is the gears... The 2.73's are just killing him... Also, if it is an AOD car the first thing that I would change would be the converter... That will be worth at least 0.3 seconds and maybe even a full 1/2 second!!!!

You are right the gears are killing his ET. That is the first mod to all my cars. My plate actually added 180hp to the wheels on the 150 jets. That thing worked great!

On a seperate note, I saw your car down in California but I was on my way out to get some new plugs for the race car and I did not know what you looked like to try and find ya to say HI. Rain sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a coupe, but yes. I sold it just before the ford day at Woodburn 2 years ago. The current owner ran it 2 passes 11.4 and 11.3 and has not run it since. I think it scared him.
